Alpaca Cable Pattern Socks| Brown| Size M + L

$34.00

Using 100% alpaca yarn, these low-gauge socks are knitted on an old-style double-cylinder knitting machine. They carry a nostalgic, retro feeling with the cable pattern.

Alpaca hair has a hollow center in the fiber which makes it very moisturizing and surprisingly warm‭. ‬In addition‭, ‬it does not easily pile‭. ‬Although alpaca has such excellent characteristics‭, ‬unfortunately there are some problems in its production‭. ‬One of the problems is that the number of colored alpacas‭, ‬such as black and brown‭, ‬is decreasing‭. ‬Due to the distribution of chemical dyeing‭, ‬the demand for white alpaca‭, ‬which is easier to dye‭, ‬has increased‭, ‬while the demand for brown and black alpaca‭, ‬which are harder to dye‭, ‬has decreased‭. ‬In the past‭, ‬more than 40‭ ‬different colors of alpacas were raised in the area‭, ‬but now the majority of alpacas are white‭.‬

Regardless of how they are woven, by hand or machine, the artisan’s technical skills and creativity are embedded in them.Yahae’s socks are woven by skilled engineers who use various knitting machines to their fullest, just like making food that brings its ingredients’ potential to the fullest. What’s matters most to us is whether we can make good socks, not how well we can use the machinery.
